Brens Notes ahead of todays home League fixture V Crowle Colts

Hello and welcome you all to the Jones and co stadium,
After a disappointing result on Tuesday against a very strong Newark side we look to bounce back against Crowle this afternoon, Tuesday was a tough one and could not deal with the physicality of Newark and highlighted where we need to improve but credit to Newark who thoroughly deserved the victory, this will hopefully serve as a wakeup call for all of us as bitter taste of defeat was not a nice one.
The pleasing thing from the management side were the introduction of 2 of the youngsters who came on, Callum Brookes and Jordan Timmons (who Tuesday night played 90 mins in the FA Youth Cup) showed a great desire and where not overhauled by the occasion and shows that this season the youngsters will get their chance at the club and if the club is going to progress they need to be involved.
The support from the fans on Tuesday was incredible and quite humbled to see the amount of support we are getting and trust me you may not think it but it really gives us all a lift so hopefully we can repay you all with a result today.
We go into today’s game with a few players missing again through illness and other commitments but again it gives other players chance to stake their claim to start on Tuesday when we take a long trip down to Long Eaton in the cup, on the transfer front though we do welcome Aaron Pickersgill to the Club, Aaron signs from Retford FC and will go straight into the Reserve squad this afternoon to get some much needed game time, Aaron was part of Retfords league Championship winning team last season and has a wealth of experience even at the young age of just 22, we wish him all the best and look forward to him pushing the lads for a start with the first team.
On to today’s opponents Crowle, luckily for myself I know a little bit about them as I managed the reserves last season and were beaten comfortable both home and away and was not surprised when they gained promotion as for me they were the best team we played over the 2 games and today although we will be stronger than last season it will be a really tough test and need to be on our “A” game to get a result.
All that’s left is to say enjoy the game with a cuppa and a bite to eat from Tom’s Tea room and safe journey home to all.
